Maree, a teacher, first came to see Accordius when she was 58, and she was hoping for good news.
Maree planned to retire in two years’ time, at 60, and she was relieved to be told that, with some careful planning and wise financial moves, she could easily attain that goal.
“I had talked to other advisers in the past and felt that they didn’t give enough detail and treated me as though I didn't understand what they were saying,” says Maree, who was an assistant accountant prior to becoming a teacher.
Maree’s assets were consolidated into one investment structure (a SMSF) in preparation for retirement, and was provided with detailed retirement modelling to give her a good understanding of her likely retirement position.
For Maree, the personal touch meant the world of difference.
“The team are always personable, they are happy to come and see me at my home, rather than me having to travel into town, and always give me a detailed run down of how my investments are going” she says.
Crucially, Maree is able to draw enough from her super each month to finance her love of travel.
“I am planning a river cruise through Europe on the back of one month’s earning in my self-managed super fund,” she says.
